Shawn Washburn is an idea person, conceptual artist and mixed media manipulator. He is highly diversified in subject and media, working in pencil, paint, digital, and a variety of sculptural mediums. He has experience in installation art, film editing, promotional photography, alternative material usage, and is highly adept at working with individuals of varying learning and behavioral abilities. He co-directed & edited the award winning feature short Break which was accepted in the Cannes Independent Film Festival and is currently in pre-production for his next project. Past collaborations with co-director, Keith Oncale, include Off-Broadway productions of Robeson & Circus of Infinite Attractions. In 2009 his paintings of planets were backdrop for the launch of fashion designer David Caldwell’s collection “Return of the Greenpeace Yuppies” hosted by Spin Magazine. He was a participant in the 2002 group show “Life and the City” at the MoMa (Museum of Modern Art), exhibited at the Manhattan Borough Presidents Office and has premiered installations at the Tunnel and the gardens outside Shea Stadium during the US Open. Shawn has created promotional work for Judith Shakespeare Company, Lightning Strikes Theatre and Theatre in the Flesh. He taught art to high school kids with learning differences for 10 years and currently is the President of T.O.A.S.T. the Tribeca Open Artist Studio Tour.
